With CO2 levels the highest they've been in 23 million years, the climate crisis is currently the greatest threat to humanity. At Postevand, we're taking concrete action. Which is why we pledge 3% of our annual sales to local not-for-profit organisations that are invested in evolving climate crisis solutions, promoting ecological awareness, and building a green, just future.

RESPONSIBLE LOBBYING POLICY
Postevand was founded to challenge the bottled water industry from within. We promote tap water, and we have taken an activist approach to do so. We vow to engage where change is possible. In public policy, in radical collaboration, in external research and in thought leadership. Even if it would hurt our short-term financial interest. The necessary change is more important than the survival of our business.
Being activist also puts a moral obligation on our shoulders. We must act responsible, transparent and always focus on the social and environmental progress. We commit to take a holistic approach to lobbying and public affairs to advance policies that support an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
When we engage in dialogues or industry communities relevant to legislation or political decisions, we do so grounded in our purpose and values. That tap water is a common good, a fundamental part of the democratic infrastructure and something to protect. Tap water resources should not be privately owned, but collectively stewarded.
We only engage in activities that contribute to positive social and environmental development, in line with B Corp standards and the UN SDGs.
In politically relevant dialogues, we commit to:
- Acting with integrity, transparency, and accountability
- Basing our positions on reliable and where possible scientifically grounded data
- Being clear about our positions and intentions
- We are are against corruption or bribery in any form in alignment the UN Convention against Corruption.
- We only donate through our 3% Pledge. Since 2022, we have offered free residency to not-for-profits fighting the climate crisis.
Accountability
This policy is approved by our board of directors. The co-directors are accountable for enforcing this policy. The board of directors holds oversight responsibility and annually our positions and lobbying engagement will be assessed in the board.
Embedding in practice
The policy applies to all representatives acting on Postevand's behalf.
Risk identification and management
Risks of non-compliance are assessed by the co-directors on a case-by-case basis prior to engaging in lobbying activity. The company does not engage third-party lobbyists nor are we member of any intermediary organisation.

Stakeholders may raise concerns about our lobbying activities through our grievance mechanism here. All enquiries are handled confidentially and without risk of retaliation.
Below you'll find the specific lobbying activities and public policy engagements we have taken on;
Climate residency
In 2022, we launched our very first climate residency. For the initiative, we provide free workspaces for not-for-profits fighting the climate crisis. The idea is to work together with like-minded people in close proximity, sharing concepts and practices.
Our residents in 2022 and 2023 were:
Forlaget Virkelig, a micro-publisher issuing literature that poses new answers to the climate crisis. They also publish the magazine Ny Jord (‘New Earth’) that aims to contribute to a qualified conversation about nature in a time where our perceptions and ideas about it are changing significantly.
Vild Med Vilje, a movement working to establish a richer, wilder and more diversified nature. The organisation creates habitats for plants and animals while increasing our shared knowledge of nature and how to protect it.
In 2024-2026, our residency will continue with the following participants:
Sille Skovgaard is a trained organic farmer and an anthropologist specializing in regenerative agriculture. She is the author of the book 'Lysbønder - samtaler om genopbygningen af jorden' (with Sofie Isager Ahl, 2024) and has produced the film "Jeg tror, vi starter som lys" (with Emma Harris, 2024), focusing on regenerative farmers' experiments with soil fertility. Additionally, she serves on the board of the association Andelsgaarde.
Esther Michelsen Kjeldahl was one of the key initiators behind the Green Youth Movement (Den Grønne Ungdomsbevægelse) in 2018, and in 2023, she was instrumental in launching Fossilfri Fremtid. In 2020, Esther authored the book "Vi er sammen om at mærke det" which underwent upcycling and reissue on Økotopia in 2023. During the spring of 2022, she hosted Ungdomsmagt on radio 24syv, where she delved into empowering young individuals in society. Since the spring of 2023, Esther has been contributing climate literature reviews to Dagbladet Information.
Jeppe Svan holds a master's degree in climate change from the University of Copenhagen and has been a part of the Green Youth Movement (Den Grønne Ungdomsbevægelse). He runs Økotopia, a publishing house with a focus on nature activism, ecological awareness, and political utopias in the struggle against ecological crises and for a green, just future.
Emma Harris holds a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Copenhagen. Her work revolves around new imaginaries and conversations about the future of soil and agriculture. In 2024, she released the film "Jeg tror, vi starter som lys" (with Sille Skovgaard).

Planting trees
To help protect Danish drinking water and remove carbon from the air, we have been part of planting more than 25,000 trees in Denmark.
Here are some of the forests that we have taken part in planting:
In 2019, we planted 2,502 trees above fragile groundwater sources in Billund. The trees were planted together with the non-profit organisation Plant et træ, Billund Municipality and BillundSkolen. More than 20 different species were planted to increase biodiversity and turn the area into a recreational haven for locals.
In 2020, we planted 5,833 trees on the Danish island of Samsø as part of a climate forest. The forest will be considered a ‘peace forest’: this means that if it’s cut down, the municipality is obliged to plant a new forest. Samsø's new climate forest was designed in collaboration with one of the University of Copenhagen’s senior researchers, Vivian Kvist Johannsen: one of Denmark's leading experts in forests’ abilities to sequester carbon. Her team calculated that Samsø's climate forest will absorb at least 1,300 tonnes of CO2 during its first 30 years.
In 2022, we planted 1,820 trees in Wendelholm Forest, 6,217 tress in Greve Forest and 9,185 trees in Biersted Forest together with Growing Trees Network and The Danish Nature Agency. All forests will be considered 'peace forests'.
protecting tap water
In collaboration with Danish singer MØ, we designed a T-shirt and patch with the slogan ‘No to pesticides in groundwater’. For every T-shirt or patch sold, we planted a tree in Denmark to protect groundwater.
All textiles were dead stock and all shipments were delivered in reusable RePacks. All textiles were certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and the T-shirts and patches were screen-printed by hand in Denmark. Only watercolour was used. Everything was sold via pre-order, so we only produced the amount of T-shirts and patches we needed to.
Promoting tap water
In 2020 we launched the Postevand app. It allows you to locate the closest spot to fill up your bottle with free tap water. The map includes public water fountains, shops, restaurants, coffee shops, institutions and other locations around Denmark that offer free tap water. It’s an easy way to save countless amounts of unnecessary plastic bottles.
